Art is Everywhere – A FOCUS ON FOCUS Photography WorkshopPhotography workshop

One of the most important considerations in taking a good photograph is focus. Many times photographers don’t put enough emphasis, not only on nailing the focus, but in many cases, deciding what exactly the focus should be on. One of my favorite questions that I ask students is, “Who is the star of this photo?” You should know the answer before the shutter button is pushed.

Today’s cameras include so many different types of focusing options that it could make your head spin. Do you ever change these options? Do you know which options to use in which settings? The proper focus can make or break your work and we will spend two days diving deep into all of these considerations.

After we figure out exactly how to properly nail the focus we will begin to explore what happens when you purposefully shoot out of focus. That’s where the fun really begins. Everybody will have the opportunity to create some artistic images by experimenting with all different types of focusing.

This Art is Everywhere – A FOCUS ON FOCUS Photography Workshop will start at 8AM on Thursday morning where we will have group discussions, watch a slideshow presentation, and then set out to practice what we learned. We will spend the remaining time over the next couple of days shooting and discussing our work. There will be plenty of time for group critiques and editing.

Snacks and coffee will be provided on the first morning and we will plan to eat lunch together every day. Meals are not included with the price of the workshop. We will also plan for one optional group dinner on Thursday evening. The workshop will end late Friday afternoon.

The Art Loft in Rockland will be our home base for the classroom sessions and our assignments will take place in the close vicinity of the Rockland, Rockport and Camden area.
